Our Corridor Speed Violation Detection vehicles help increase safety at traffic corridors by monitoring passing vehicles’ speed between two points on a highway. These systems are composed of license plate recognition units placed at the entry and exit point to a traffic corridor and a central software the calculates the average speed of a passing vehicle.
The system operates by collecting incoming vehicle data and using the time taken to pass the distance between the entry and exit points as a basis for average speed measurements. Detection capabilities extend to multi-lane highways and different arrangements of vehicles that might pass within proximity of each other.
Collected data that includes the location of the violation alongside the time, date, vehicle speed and vehicle direction to the road are transmitted to the PLATURK software package for ticket issuing and review.
The reliance on High-Definition Camera based detection eliminates the need for calibration operations that radar-based systems require.
The system offers several precautions against hardware and software errors. This includes audible alerts to operators in the case of malfunctions, in addition to authorization for non-administrators for immediate intervention.
